DVM or equivalent
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality veterinary care in the Animal Shelter’s state-of-the-art facility. The Shelter Veterinarian will supervise the daily operations of the kennels, ensuring safe, sanitary and humane treatment of the animals; diagnose and treat diseases, illnesses and injuries; perform high volume spay/neuter surgeries to help control pet overpopulation; and perform euthanasia. Additional responsibilities include training and supervising kennel staff and volunteers as well as performing animal forensic activities and investigations.
The successful candidate must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited college or university and at least two years of experience in veterinary care, preferably in a shelter setting. Must possess or obtain within 60 days of hire a current State of Michigan license to practice veterinary medicine and a DEA license.
