Veterinarian wanted for a privately owned small animal hospital on eastern Long Island. We are a 2 1/2 veterinarian practice with approximately 25 support staff including 6 licensed technicians. We provide surgery, internal medicine, traditional Chinese herbal medicine, and acupuncture for dogs, cats, small mammals, reptiles and birds. We have in-house digital radiography, ultrasonography and blood chemistry. Only 2% of our income is generated from vaccines; the majority comes from medical and surgical cases. As we do have large number of ill patients, veterinarians have the opportunity to used their diagnostic skills. The support staff is trained to take blood, set up IV's, run the lab tests, and so on allowing the veterinarians to be veterinarians. We provide membership in the local veterinary medicine society which provides RACE approved continuing education credits. We are also willing to provide training for veterinarians who do not perform acupuncture, but wish to become certified. We have a health insurance cafeteria plan, a voluntary 401k, and profit sharing. We are open 7 days a week, but there are no night emergencies. We are located close to several referral hospitals for additional support. There are several good school districts in the area and we are close to beaches. New York City is only an hour and a half by car and there is local train service to the city. We have local theatres and an aquarium making it a great place to work and raise a family.
