Start date= As soon as you are available. The role is currently being temporarily met by a wonderful associate who is helping us out as she builds her own large animal practice.
Build relationships, hone your skills, and enjoy spending time with your own family with our friendly AAHA-accredited general practice. 2+ years experience preferred, but highly skilled newer graduates may be considered. The candidate should be confident in general practice skills and able to work independently soon after hire, as the practice rotates through both single doctor days and two doctor days.
Avoid cut-throat competitive high-volume stress. Intimate setting, collaborative environment. Medical acupuncture, in-house lab, digital radiography, dental rads, and ultrasound on site. We are committed to fear-free patient handling, modern anesthetic standards and pain management, and optimization of the quality of geriatric pet years. We treat primarily dogs/cats with some pocket pets. Our loyal clients are highly motivated to obtain comprehensive care for their four-legged family members. Highly skilled support staff, with handling techniques trained in accordance with Dr. Sophia Yin’s methods.
Strong client communication skills and desire to build client bond are a must, interest in modern animal behavior or rehab/sports medicine a plus. No after-hours call duty. 2-3 day part time -OR- 4-5 day full time work week including rotating Saturdays. No Sundays.
Located 5 minutes from rustic hiking/bike trails, 5 minutes from retail/dining area, 10-15 minutes from Lake Murray (sailing, fishing, kayaking), 2 hr to beach, 2 hr to mountains. Capitol city with international airport, minor league baseball, local theatre, beautiful parks, music festivals, Saturday farmers market, and a burgeoning restaurant scene. Multiple colleges and universities within the city, including nationally recognized USC baseball and women’s basketball.
We are currently a 1.5 dr. practice, seeking to become a 2 dr. practice as we grow. Convenient local emergency and specialty referral clinics available minutes from clinic location. We are a smoke-free and drug-free hospital. Earning potential is unlimited with a production-based compensation. Additional benefits available.

Minimum requirements: DVM or equivalent degree, SC license in good standing, DEA license in good standing.
Ability to lift up to 50 lb. and work on your feet for long periods of time. Compassionate attitude towards pets and clients. Client service and the veterinarian-client bond must be high priority. Respect for fellow teammates. Accuracy and diligence in electronic medical record keeping. Integrity. Strong work ethic. Must be able to pass random drug and/or alcohol testing. Reliable telephone, email access, and transportation. Must be able to work the hours of the business, including rotating Saturdays and evenings on the unusual occasion that cases run late.
