ADL is a busy and growing shelter with a diverse surgical caseload, high volume spay/neuter clinic, and a vibrant shelter medicine program. We are looking to add a fourth full time veterinarian to our team. This position provides leadership and direction to shelter staff and ensures sound and humane veterinary medical practices. The ADL hospital is well-equipped with digital x-ray, doeppler, bair huggers, tono pen, fluid pumps and in house lab (Idexx blood analyzer, centrifuge, etc.). Duties include but are not limited to:
Diagnosis and treatment of disease; disease identification and surveillance with a focus on infectious diseases;performs spay/neuter surgeries and other surgeries; efficiently stabilizes and manages a variety of trauma cases; directs veterinary technicians and assistants in the daily performance of their duties; monitors humane housing of all animals in shelter and hospital; coordinates with the medical staff for updated medical treatment protocols; assists with pre-surgical exams and directs vet techs on proper procedures; periodic surveillance of shelter disease organisms (testing)
Graduate from a college or university accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine; already licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Texas or able to be licensed.
