Veterinarian needed for a busy, mixed animal practice in Southwest Wyoming. We are looking for a hard-working team player with an interest in leadership that enjoys surgery and dentistry. Thorough diagnostic skills and the ability to think creatively a must. Experience is preferred but new graduates are welcome. Good communication skills and a friendly attitude are essential, as well as thorough charting ability. The ability to independently work up a case is ideal but mentoring and collaboration between all the vets at the practice is standard procedure. It is very important to us to find the right person that fits in with our practice. Must have or be able to obtain a valid license to practice veterinary medicine in Wyoming.
We are a privately owned, 3 doctor practice with a caseload that is predominantly small animal but do see equine, exotic and large animal patients. We strive to provide progressive, quality medical and surgical care while tailoring to each client’s needs and financial concerns. We provide excellent customer service with a focus on client communication and the human animal bond. Services include general medicine and surgery for small animal, large animal and exotic patients, stem cell therapy, advanced dentistry, emergency and urgent care, wellness and preventative health, behavior consults and end-of-life care. We also perform spay/neuter work for the local animal shelter and participate in the Spay-Neuter Wyoming Program. Practice is well equipped with support staff, complete in-house lab, digital radiology, dental radiology, high speed dental drill system, stem cell therapy equipment, Powerfloat and basic ultrasound. We have a full small animal boarding area, grooming, large treatment area, isolation ward, surgery suite equipped for 2 doctors, 2 indoor hospital stalls, and stocks. We have a strong referral network for all species when needed.
The practice is located in Rock Springs, at the heart of southwest Wyoming. Southwest Wyoming is a great area for outdoor enthusiasts with lots of wide open space with many places for off-roading, camping, hiking, biking, hunting and fishing. The Flaming Gorge is minutes away with some of the best boating and fishing opportunities in the country. Rock Springs is a friendly community with activities available almost every weekend. Community has many public recreation facilities with indoor pools, ice arena, indoor riding arena and water slides. We are within hours of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Salt Lake City, UT.
Responsibilities include: • Vaccination and wellness exams • Examining, diagnosing, and treating sick patients both on an outpatient and inpatient basis • Dietary and behavior consultations • Wound repair and management • Euthanasia/end of life care • General surgery skills are required and may including castration, spay, growth removal, abdominal exploratory surgery, amputation, splenectomy, etc. • Basic orthopedic surgery skills a bonus but not required. We refer advanced orthopedics and surgeries to a specialist when needed. • Emergency triage and stabilization of all species • Basic medical equine colic work up • On call duties are shared between all 3 doctors. • Thorough and complete client communication and education at all stages of care • Direct medical staff regarding treatments, patient management and client communication.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is a guaranteed base which is dependent on experience plus a production percentage if your gross exceeds minimum. Full benefits package including fees for state veterinary licenses and DEA license, AVMA and WYVMA dues, continuing education expense compensation, vacation time, and liability, health and dental insurance. This is full time position with after-hours on call duties. Must be willing to see large animal or exotic emergency calls.
