Are you looking to become an intricate part of a veterinary practice and community? Small town life with the conveniences of city life? A good place to make a living and raise a family? Ownership? We’ve got that covered. Unfortunately we can’t offer a beautiful setting or a Starbuck’s beside the clinic. However, if you don’t like mud, rain, trees, mountains or hills for that matter, but don’t mind dust, wind, unobstructed views, sunsets and sunrises. You are in luck! Keep reading.
You’ll need a veterinary degree, the ability to be licensed in Texas and be ready to go to work. You’ll need to enjoy the concept of mixed animal practice and be able to function well in a busy one. We also expect you to be able to work within a talented team and strive for the best care for our patients and clients. Bring your interests and we’ll help you build them into the practice. Skill in equine sports medicine would be a big plus.
The practice is busy, progressive, and well established mixed animal practice out in west Texas. It is near Midland and Odessa, 15 miles from the international airport. It’s a two to two and a half veterinarian practice which is 45% equine, 45% small animal, 10% food animal and exotics. 90% of our work is haul in, we operate a single practice truck as needed. The hospital was recently remodeled and expanded. The facilities are new shiny and well thought out. The technical staff is exceptional, including 24 hour care. There are two local small animal emergency clinics and we work with both, there is also an equine surgical referral hospital about an hour away. We do see emergencies, you can take as many or few as you can handle, they are well compensated for. Imaging includes wireless digital, computed digital, digital dental and digital ultrasound. In house laboratories include, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, assisted reproductive and E.I.A. Anesthesia monitoring, a well-designed and equipped isolation ward for small animals, 4 exam rooms, and associate’s office rounds out the hospital. We provide a regional referral center for assisted reproduction in the horse. There are extensive equine facilities and housing. For cattle, we have a roll over hydraulic chute.
I know, I know, with such a Mecca, it would seem we’d be gathering volunteers, but we’d rather hire. The salary and benefits are more than competitive and based on your capabilities, experience and skills. The salary is guaranteed and will exceed 22% of your gross. There will be paid vacation after 6 months and CE with an allowance. You’ll have a half day off during the week and work every other Saturday morning. We’ll cover your AVMA and TVMA dues, and fees for DEA and TSBVME licensure/registration. There will be a stipend for personal insurances and your malpractice will be through AVMA PLIT and paid. We can rearrange things if your situation needs more of this or less of that. If you need upfront money for expenses we can work that out. If it’s a good fit and ownership is of interest that can be worked out. It’s a nice place to work.
The economy is strong here and tremendous employment options exist for spouses.
