SPCA Tampa Bay Veterinary Center is seeking a dynamic, organized, and goal oriented hospital manager to lead our new hospital forward. This new practice opened in October 2016, and is growing quickly. Our initial doctor staff was 2 GP's, but have hired two more GP's, along with 8 new line staff, and need a strong and organized leader to appropriately grow in our community. Good financial background a must, as we have some complicated grant and donor fund sources to help with certain financial issues our clients present.
Job Purpose: Oversees the operation of all veterinary services which include general and preventive care practice, and spay/neuter programs. Assures adequate staffing and participates in budget preparation and monitors adherence to approved budget. Assigns duties, supervises and evaluates staff. Resolves customer experience issues.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Create, evaluate, and improve the structure that delivers the Customer Experience (a Core Value).
Propose programmatic and budget goals, and monitor, analyze and control budget items and goal attainment.
Collaborate with SDVS with new administrative and medical SOP creation, and ensuring adherence by SPVH staff.
Collaborate with SDVS on establishment of, and ongoing review, of price set points.
Collaborate with key staff on establishment and management of alternate funding sources for clients (including the “Keeping Families Together” fund), when resource need exists.
Manage ordering, accurate recording and maintenance of inventory, including controlled substances, for general practice and spay/neuter programs.
Track, evaluate and provide pertinent data for weekly/monthly/annual dashboard data and trend reports. Recommend actions to improve dashboard measurements.
Complete critical review of medical records and files.
Ensure adherence to OSHA and DEA standards.
Recruit, select, supervise, evaluate and train, or ensure training of department staff.
Maintain communications with other SPCA Tampa Bay departments as needed to provide a seamless customer experience, especially with post-adoption transitions.
Collect and report customer metrics, to assist with public relations and marketing efforts.
Serve as member of the operations management team.
Ensure staff keep accurate records, and enter data as required in Avimark practice software. Supervise training of new employees on practice software. Be familiar with PetPoint shelter software.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Participate in required meetings and trainings.
Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times.
All other duties as assigned.

SPCA Tampa Bay has two campuses: a nonprofit, private shelter in Largo, FL, and a full service veterinary hospital for the public, in St. Petersburg, FL. The shelter accepts all pets surrendered by their owners and sick or injured exotic stray animals. Owners are required to make an appointment but no fee is charged for admission, though donations are strongly encouraged. The organization’s miss...ion is to improve the community by promoting humane care, preventing animal cruelty and reducing pet overpopulation. Community services include animal cruelty investigation, lost/found pet assistance, animal admission and ambulance transport for sick/injured wildlife. SPCA programs include pet adoption, free pet behavior help, Sniff University training for dogs and cats, children’s summer camps and more. Founded in 1940, SPCA Tampa Bay, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, has a shelter located on 10 acres in Largo.
Our Veterinary Center, in St. Petersburg, FL, is a full service practice, offering both general practice services (i.e. pediatric and senior care, general dentistry, general dermatology, etc.), as well as a spay/neuter practice and preventive care clinic. We have in-house digital radiology, full Idexx lab suite, and dental digital radiography.
