Rancocas Veterinary Associates, a mixed animal practice located in Southern NJ is seeking a positive, self-motivated, and confident new associate to join our team. Excellent client service skills are an absolute must. The caseload is approximately 50% large animal and 50% small animal with a rapidly growing small animal side. Cases are seen both on an ambulatory basis (primarily large animal farm calls with some small animal house calls) and in our full-service office (primarily small animal with some large animals- primarily goats, sheep, and pigs). This position is a primarily small animal position with opportunity to see large animal cases if so interested. There may be opportunity for some high-volume spay/neuter as well.
We see a wide range of species. The majority of the caseload is split between horses, small ruminants, dogs, cats, and miniature pigs. Strong skills working with dogs, and cats are required as this will be the primary focus. Interest in small animal dentistry is important. Pocket pet experience is a plus. A candidate interested in some equine work as well would be great, especially if comfortable with participating in after-hours emergency work, but this is not a requirement to apply. Exceptional new graduates will recieve consideration but experience is preferred. Associates are encouraged to explore special interests and the practice will support those endeavors for the right candidate.
Small animal and surgical cases are typically brought to our office location which serves as the base of operations for all appointments. The building was completely remodeled about four years ago but we've quickly outgrown the space. We are currently starting the process of building a new, approx. 16,000 sq. ft. full-service mixed-animal facility which will include large animal hospital and surgery services and hope to relocate there within the next two years. We also have three stocked ambulatory trucks for farm/house calls.
Currently hours are 9am-6pm Mon-Fri, 9am-8pm Wed, and 9am-1pm Sat. The successful applicant will work 4 weekdays and Saturday.
Small animal emergencies are typically referred to local emergency clinics after hours. Large animal emergencies are seen on an ambulatory basis (or in-office for small ruminants and pigs). Again, a candidate willing/able to participate in after-hours large animal emergency is a plus but not a requirement to apply.
We're equipped with much of the latest equpiment including wireless digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy (all portable), in-house chemistry and hematology (IDEXX). Our fully equipped surgery suite has monitoring equipment including ECG, BP, SpO2, capnography, isoflurane gas anesthesia, a ventilator, electrocautery, CO2 laser, Bair Hugger and more. We have relatively new small animal dental equipment (again, an interest in small animal dentistry is needed). All medical records are electronic and experience using AVImark is preferred but not required. We also have a well-stocked in-house pharmacy.
The staff currently consists of three full-time, one part-time, and three consulting veterinarians. Two full-time veterinarians mixed general practitioners and the other is a board-certified large animal internist who focuses on large animal cases. The part-time veterinarian sees almost exclusively equine cases. The consulting veterinarians are a board-certified small animal surgeon who primarily focuses on orthopedic cases and two specialists (DACVIM and DACVECC) who perform ultrasound studies. We also have two receptionists, and three veterinary technicians.
We enjoy a very busy but generally fun work environment with a wide base of loyal clients.
Pay is usually structured as a base salary plus commission, but we are open to discussing straight salary or straight commission if preferred. Full-time veterinarians receive a combination of paid and unpaid vacation/sick/personal time, a CE allowance, paid liability insurance, NJVMA membership, and may participate in the SIP retirement program offered.
Interested qualified candidates are encouraged to submit a resume and cover letter for consideration. Those selected for an interview will be contacted directly.
Experience working in a mixed practice environment is preferred but this position is primarily small animal. Exceptional new graduates are welcome to apply.
