Brevard Spay-Neuter Clinic is a busy spay/neuter/wellness clinic in the Melbourne and Palm Bay area in Florida. We are located on the Indian River Lagoon, 6 miles from the ocean and 10 miles from the St. John’s River.
Our mission is to decrease the number of homeless pets in our county by:
Providing high-quality but lower-cost spays and neuters for pets belonging to people on low or subsidized incomes.
Providing lower-cost veterinary services to the nonprofit animal rescue groups that take dogs and cats from the county’s impoundments and from situations where pets are being relinquished or abandoned.
Participating in the Trap/Neuter/Return program that encourages the public to stop abandoned and feral cats in their neighborhoods from reproducing.
This job is ideal for a veterinarian interested in shelter medicine without the shelter building. Many of our patients have been rescued from shelters by local rescue groups and come to us for:
health exams (medical problems are addressed, but those requiring radiographs, ultrasound, or long-term follow-up care are referred to a full-service veterinarian)
surgery (prolapsed third eyelids, entropions, enucleations, hematomas, umbilical hernias, tumor removals, perineal urethrostomies, and any condition the attending veterinarian is willing to address)
Surgeries are scheduled from 8:00am to 2:30pm on Monday through Thursday. The veterinarian
performs pre-anesthetic exams of pets admitted for surgical procedures.
performs all surgical procedures and rabies vaccinations.
determines what post-exam and post-surgical medications will be prescribed for each patient.
Basic wellness and medical exams are scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00, also Monday through Thursday.
Additional Salary Information: Up to $104,000/year with 2 weeks paid vacation for veterinarian working 8:00-6:00 Monday through Thursday (Must be able to provide 22-28 surgeries per 6 hour surgery shift.)
Up to $500/10hour day for part-time.
