Waikato Afterhours Veterinary Hospital/ Carevets Central seeks an Emergency Veterinarian to join our unique practice in New Zealand.
We have a unique set-up of rotations between our Afterhours Emergency Practice and our General Day Practice. This allows for a light schedule with shifts rotating to maximize a healthy work-life balance. Our team of highly skilled veterinarians and staff are dedicated to serving the Waikato patients with exceptional emergency and general practice care and compassion.
We are thus looking for a full time veterinarian interested in providing the highest quality medicine at our well-equipped, well-staffed progressive practice.
Benefits include a competitive salary with production, CE allowance, yearly Vet registration paid, personal pet discounts, a great work-life balance schedule, and a city that is central to many great getaway spots.
Our Hospital is divided into an Afterhours Practice (which turns into a Referral Practice during the day), and General Practice to allow for more day time work:
In-house laboratory capabilities including Idexx VetStation (Catalyst Chemistry Analyzer, Procyte CBC machine, Coagulation profile, Urinalysis, and Snap Reader), an iStat for blood gases, and basic cytology. We also have a close association with a local full-service laboratory.
In-house ECG, Ultrasound, Digital radiography, Endoscopy, and multiple blood pressure devices (Doppler and Vet HDO)
Excellent surgical monitoring capabilities with oscillometric blood pressure monitoring, Capnograph, full ECG, etc.
Cone-beam 3D CT Scanner on site, with ventilator capacity for clear pulmonary scans
Our Nursing team is composed of highly skilled and Diploma trained nurses who can place catheters, run bloodwork, take radiographs, set-up and assist in many procedures and advanced diagnostics. They are on site 24/7 to allow the vet to take a break in the build-in apartment provided above the clinic.
About Hamilton, New Zealand:
Hamilton is the 4th biggest city in New Zealand. Although a large city, it has a small town feel to it in some places, thanks to its numerous parks, river walks, and trails. You can either live in the center for a city life feel, or 10-15 minutes away from the city center, in the countryside.
The city has a lot to offer, with a rich culture, excellent local restaurants, breweries, and outdoor activities. It is only 45 minutes away from Raglan, one of the world’s most renowned surfing spot. It is also only 40 minutes away from Hobbiton, Matamata (for Lord of the Rings fans), or to the Waitomo Caves for some fun-filled thrills (seeing the Glow-worms caves, or going for some Black-water rafting experience). If you drive 1.5 hour north, you can find the beautiful town of Tauranga, known for its Mount Maunganui, its beaches, and various beach town activities. Only 2 hours away, there is the lake Rotorua with numerous outdoor activities and cultural hikes.
