The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Emergency Medicine as a Clinical Instructor. The successful applicant will be responsible for seeing emergency cases as well as provide primary case management of emergency and ICU patients in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The successful candidate will also provide consultation to clients and referring veterinarians seeking emergency care for their animals. The appointment includes weekend and evening duty on a rotating basis. Applicants must be committed to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching. Teaching will primarily be focused on clinical instruction to DVM students assigned to the emergency service but will also include teaching and supervision of interns working the evening and weekend emergency shifts as well as opportunities to participate in didactic and laboratory sessions for students in the DVM curriculum. Occasional travel and background check is required.
DVM or equivalent degree. Employer will accept degree that is equivalent DVM or foreign equivalent of DVM.
Three years of experience in emergency medicine or completion of ACVECC approved residency program.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Advanced training experience (internship or residency in ECC).
