We are now accepting applicants for the 2019 year (January and June start dates) ER Immersion Program for new grads to help advance your clinical skills and gain the confidence and experience to become an efficient, well-rounded veterinarian that practices evidence-based medicine. This is a full-time emergency position that starts with a training period to ensure the new grad is comfortable and confident by the time they are working on the clinic floor. This will be our fourth round of new grads enrolled in this successful program.

The VMC is looking for new and experienced ER docs. At the VMC emergency clinicians work alongside the other specialists, which include critical care, internal medicine, surgery, radiology, medical oncology, and cardiology. Our pain management service includes physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, chiro and massage. The emergency service is currently supported by 3 criticalists, providing ample opportunity to learn new skills and enhance knowledge base. Emergency clinicians work an average of thirteen shifts per month with ample time off to play! The ER schedule has been constructed to allow for a balanced life style, and we seek regular feedback from the ER docs to make necessary adjustments.
The Veterinary Medical Center of Central New York is located in Syracuse, NY, the #1 city to reside in NY according to U.S. News and Worlds Report 2017. Given its proximity to the Finger Lakes, this area boasts a plenitude of year round recreational activities, including hiking, running, kayaking, skiing and snowmobiling. Our hospital is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our 19,000 sq. ft. hospital was opened in December 2006 and features a separate emergency and specialty entrance and lobbies, 10 exam rooms, 1 surgical suite, 1 video-endoscopy room, a mobile ultrasound for ER use, oxygen cages, in-house CBC/Chemistry/Urine analysis,blood gas analyser, CT unit, and digital radiography. In addition, our in-house lab equipment includes a lactatometer, coagulation monitoring (PT/PTT), microscope, and blood typing/crossmatching. We are also fortunate enough to have an on-site regional IDEXX diagnostic reference laboratory. Blood products are available from an in-hospital blood donor program as well as an outside blood bank. Continuous multi-parameter monitoring capabilities include invasive and non-invasive blood pressure, central venous pressure, pulse oximetry, EtCO2 and ECG. ... The emergency staff consists of experienced emergency clinicians, technicians and veterinary assistants whose goal is to provide the best of care to our clients and patients.
