Veterinary Instructional Nurse I

Job Summary The Instructional Veterinary Nurse I, under direct supervision, participates in the instruction of undergraduate-level courses to meet the needs of the Veterinary Technology Program. This includes hands-on laboratory responsibilities and may include classroom-lecture instruction. Assists veterinary staff with medical management of program animals and medical cases including daily husbandry, supportive care and medical treatments. Education – Graduation from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program with an associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related field Experience – Five years of practical experience in a veterinary practice environment Knowledge of – Common veterinary practices and procedures in a working veterinary practice setting Ability to – Multitask, communicate and cooperate well with others. Basic computing skills. Licensing / Professional Certification – Registration, licensure or certification as a veterinary technician as a result of successful completion of the VTNE, ability to become licensed in the state of Texas within 6 months Physical Requirements – Lift up to #50, work in outdoor environments, including those which temperatures can be >90°F |
