You have invested a lot of your life and even more of your money into becoming a veterinarian. You have spent the past four years learning a lot of stuff that you will probably never even need or use and you are scared to death that you are going to screw something up. Well, my friend, let me tell you something, it is completely ok! We all felt that way and at times still do. Veterinary medicine is an amazing profession and it doesn't have to be that complicated or stressful or something that you fear, you can do it everyday and love it with the right mentorship and the right first job.
We are looking for a young or an old or anywhere in between person who wants to practice veterinary medicine in a rural location in the desert of Southeastern Arizona that is nestled between two mountain ranges and offers every sort of outdoor adventure you might possibly want within just a few hours drive! We are a very busy mixed animal practice that sees pretty much anything that comes in the door so this is not the job for everyone and we understand that. We don't expect you to keep up with the experienced doctors. All we want if for you to just to come to work excited to help and do what you can and learn. We all learn every day and we want to do that with you too!
We are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. We do emergency services after hours and on weekends but only until 9pm and emergency time is split evenly between full-time doctors. We do not have regular weekend hours because we all need to pretend that we have a life outside of veterinary medicine.
We have an equine barn with three padded stalls and four inside stalls for sick and injured horses. We have equine x-ray and ultrasound and endoscopy as well. There is a ton of opportunity to grow the equine side of the practice especially for someone interested in reproduction work!
We have a brand new haul in facility for cattle with an ArrowQuid chute and tub.
On the small animal side of things, which is 80% of the practice, we do a lot of surgeries every morning and do appointments all day except for lunch time. We see a lot of animals in a day but don't freak out because we have an amazing staff that helps and is well trained and takes care of so much for you that all you have to do is vet stuff! Plus, you don't have to nor are you expected to keep up with the other doctors. You get to work at your pace with mentorship and help so you can learn to enjoy veterinary medicine and not come to work everyday hating your job. It is very important to not hate your job.
Work week is four days a week. Paid national and state dues, health insurance, 401K, malpractice and all that jazz paid as well. Two weeks paid vacation. One major CE meeting a year with room and travel paid for.
We are looking for someone who is ok living in a rural area that is two hours away from a big city. We are looking for someone who is not high maintenance because that just doesn't work here in our small town and we don't want you miserable and we don't want to be miserable because you are miserable. We are looking for someone who wants to be a part of our slightly dysfunctional but very fun family because we are really just that cool, I think. We are looking for someone who wants to practice both large and small animal medicine and surgery but if you only wanted to do small that would be ok too. We are looking for someone who wants to practice or isn't afraid to practice veterinary medicine in a cost effective way because we are rural and our clients are willing to pay but they only have so much and we try very hard to help and heal and fix everything we can inside of their budget.
We have a lot of fun toys and fancy equipment and most everything that you could want or at least need to practice veterinary medicine including Idexx labs, digital x-ray, ultrasound, cold laser, digitherm thermal camera, dental unit, three sevo anesthesia units, etc etc.
We truly believe that veterinary medicine is the best job in the world and we work everyday to save lives and treat patients at a price that can be afforded by our clients and we do it with kindness and compassion and love for the client as much as the patient. If you want to love your job and you don't mind living in a small rural mining town, lets chat because we need you.
