Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) in Plainview, New York, has open general & neurology internship positions.
LIVS is a multidisciplinary veterinary referral and emergency hospital in Long Island, NY. Specialty services include Emergency, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Oncology, and Rehabilitation. Some of our advanced equipment includes: an on-site 64 slice CT scanner, 2 digital radiology suites, electrodiagnostics, endoscopy, laparoscopy, radioiodine therapy, 3 Tesla MRI, arthroscopic equipment, ultrasonography, intraocular ultrasonography, diode ophthalmic laser, operating surgical microscope and two phacoemulsification cataract units.
Interns will play a crucial role in all aspects of the clinical setting. Rotations in each specialty will involve close interaction with and/or supervision by the staff specialists and residents. LIVS’ large and diverse caseload will provide progressive medical and surgical clinical skills. A rotating schedule includes all specialty services and emergency services. Our Emergency and Critical Care Center is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.
Our experienced support staff is responsible for administering nursing care and performing technical tasks such as obtaining radiographs, collecting lab samples and administering medications.
LIVS is located in Nassau County, Long Island; which offers both the big city and small town feeling. Enjoy beautiful white sand beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and miles of rugged coastline on the tranquil Long Island Sound. Discover charming villages and downtowns, fascinating museums, world-class shopping, top-notch hotels and restaurants, scenic hiking trails, picturesque public gardens, bike paths, swimming, surfing, boating and fishing. All this is just a quick 30 minute trip to Manhattan.
LIVS also directs residency programs. The majority of interns who sought advanced training beyond their internship have successfully secured residencies or specialized internships of their choice.
Qualified applicants will be considered on their scholastic background, interpersonal skills, and level of motivation. The general internship position at LIVS is for a term of one year, starting in summer 2020 – summer 2021. Consideration will be given to candidates that require a later start date.
