ASC is seeking energetic and passionate applicants for a Director of Hospital Operations (DHO) to continue to drive profitable future growth and organizational development.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, dynamic business leader with a proven track record of leadership and team development. The DHO reports to the NVA Specialty+ER Divisional Director of Operations (East division).
Directly oversees all operations and business activities for the hospital; leads medical support and client services staff for ASC.
Partners effectively with the Medical Director, who leads the doctor team and is responsible for the overall level of medicine and patient care in the hospital.
Directs the hospital leadership team to implement new strategies and facilitate resolution of issues within the hospital.
Consciously shapes a positive hospital culture based on trust and teamwork that caters to the needs of our clients and referring veterinarians.
Demonstrates passion in providing resources, support, and supervision for the hospital staff.
Develops in-depth understanding of the local market; builds relationships with referring general practice veterinarians to better serve their needs and the needs of their clients.
Translates hospital vision into actionable plans and activities; manages operations effectively to achieve objectives.
Identifies and executes short- and long-term plans for growth, including addition of new services, recruitment of doctors and other key team members, pricing strategy, space optimization, and acquisition of new equipment.
Financial Planning and Analysis
Oversees creation of annual operating budgets and day-to-day revenue and cost reporting.
Leads hospital financial activities, including regular audits and appropriate corrective action in response to variances and trends.
Applies continuous improvement principles to existing financial and operating systems, with consistent communication and feedback to doctors and hospital staff.
Inspirational and motivational leader who will drive results across all elements of the business. Sets goals and evaluates progress toward goals.
The DHO will help each person on the team to develop a deep understanding of the mission, vision, and values and how individual work is aligned with business goals that contribute to and ultimately drive our success.
Partners effectively with NVA and technology providers to support and enhance hospital activities and the experience of clients and referring veterinarians.
Directs growth activities to support business objectives and plans. Provides thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to elevate hospital leadership team—and the entire team—to increased performance and productivity levels.
Requirements and Personal Attributes
8+ years of progressive operational management experience with a record of success, including experience managing a P&L.
MBA, CVPM, or similar credentialed educational experience is preferred.
Larger scale healthcare experience (veterinary or human) is preferred.
Learns quickly and can absorb new information rapidly.
Self-motivated while also expert at motivating, coaching, and inspiring others.
