The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Long Island University (LIU) in Brookville, New York, invites applications from self-directed, motivated individuals for an open faculty position in veterinary anatomy. The position may be filled at a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are seeking academics interested in participating in the teaching of veterinary anatomy in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
Successful candidates will be engaged in the College's educational and service activities. Priority review will be given to candidates with a solid teaching background and a productive research record. Successful candidates must be naturally adept at promoting LIU-CVM's mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through excellence in teaching, research and service to a variety of stakeholders. All assistant and associate professor candidates will be responsible for developing independent or collaborative research in veterinary anatomy or other biomedical sciences related field and will contribute to the overall research and scholarly goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, committee service participation (College and/or University committees) and collaborative scholarly activity is expected.
Specific Job Description:
Participate actively in the professional (DVM) and graduate academic programs (MS, PhD) of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Participate in the teaching of the 1st and 2ndsemester Veterinary Anatomy courses.
Participate in the delivery of the integration courses that link knowledge of basic sciences to conditions commonly encountered in the practice of veterinary medicine.
Develop and maintain an internationally recognized extramurally funded research program.
Seek research collaborations within and outside LIU to enhance scholarly activities and improve the research output of the College.
Serve the College, University and the Veterinary Profession through the participation in committee work.
Engage with government agencies, industry, NGOs and communities in addition to professional organizations. 8Thrive for continuous improvement in communication, leadership and interpersonal skills to foster effective teamwork within an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
About The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University:
LIU-CVM received provisional accreditation status from the AVMA- Council on Education on April 2020 and admitted its inaugural class in the fall of 2020. Currently, with over fifty off-campus affiliate sites, LIU CVM utilizes a distributed model of clinical education. The successful candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, PhD or other earned post-graduate degree in biomedical sciences. Candidates will have a record of scholarly achievement as an independent and/or collaborative researcher consistent with appointed rank. Additionally, candidates will have a strong commitment to professional DVM and graduate student education, proven strength teaching in large and small group settings, good communication skills, and the ability to promote a culture of collegiality, diversity and inclusiveness within the work place.
