Fillmore Animal Hospital in quaint Fillmore, CA provides comprehensive veterinary care services: emergency, preventive, diagnostic, surgical, and dental services in our friendly little town. We are looking for a full-time (30-40 hours/week), experienced Associate Veterinarian to join our small animal practice. Our hospital is well-established and growing. We have RVTs, experienced VAs, as well as staff beginning their career. We are a small hospital that has been in practice since the 1960’s. Quality of life is a priority to all of us. We are close to ample recreational opportunities and enjoy beautiful surroundings. Country living with beaches and big city amenities near by. Appointment hours are 9am – 430pm Monday-Friday & 8am – 3pm on Saturdays.

Provides compassionate care to patients.
Works with Owner to set medical policies and procedures; performing all duties in accordance with them.
Communicates objectives, motivates staff, builds and maintains morale; maintains core values and standards.
Sets an example for the staff in working with clients; promotes the concept of the client-centered environment.
Delivers in-house medical training to the support staff on occasion.
Performs physical examinations using preliminary data provided by the veterinary technicians; diagnoses physical condition and develops diagnostic and treatment alternatives, communicating them to the client while being sensitive to their emotional as well financial needs.
Performs medical, surgical and dental procedures; provides daytime emergency services in accordance with hospital standards of care.
Understands and carries out treatment orders from other veterinarians; makes necessary changes in treatment plan when diagnostic results support the decision to do so.
Interprets the results of laboratory procedures and determines the appropriate protocol based on the results; reads radiographs.
Prescribes medications in accordance with manufacturers label instructions and uses. Understands common side-effects and common drug interactions with other medications.
Promptly, accurately and legibly updates client records in support of the SOAP reporting method.
Education and Licensure Requirements
Licensed to practice in California
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Experience as a D.V.M. in a practice is desired but not required.
Embrace teamwork as essential for a quality practice; ability to work as a team member as well as a doctor.
Willingness to maintain a timely appointment schedule and when necessary, stay after hours or work extra hours.
Display tact and diplomacy with staff members and clients.
