At Animal Medical Center of Wyoming, we take the health and well-being of our employees seriously, offering flexible working conditions and encouraging a well-rounded work/life balance. We offer a great compensation package including a competitive salary, health insurance, 401K, PTO, generous CE allowance, additional PTO for CE, and reimbursement for membership dues and license fees.
Although the candidate we are in search of would only provide care for small animals, Animal Medical Center of Wyoming is a full service, mixed animal hospital that cares primarily for dogs, cats, horses, and cows, although we occasionally treat some pocket pets and other large animals (goats, pigs, llamas, donkeys).
Our hospital was founded in 1991 by Dr. Darren Lynde and Dr. Marshall Kohr, both Colorado State University grads, with the goal to make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them. We have expanded our team over the past 29 years to include 11 veterinarians and we have worked very hard to build a collaborative team, which helps us provide the best care to every patient. We have been a staple in the community for 30 years and we are very passionate about giving back. We proudly support events like 4-H, local animal related charities including our shelter, rodeos, and various youth activities.
Our hospital is fully equipped to treat small and large animals. In our small animal hospital we have six exam rooms, a surgery suite, Sound-Elkin digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and GE Logic digital ultrasound with Doppler. Any images needing further interpretation can be sent out to PetRays. Dentistry is a large portion of our caseload and we practice the gold standard of care. We take full mouth radiographs on every patient and we also send our new veterinarians and technicians to a continuing education course with a board-certified dentist for advanced training in dentistry.
In our large animal hospital we have an equine exam area with the same ultrasound and radiography as in our small animal hospital, endoscopy, a surgical area for procedures that don’t require intubation, cattle chute, seven stalls in our heated barn, two clinic trucks available for house calls, and an Arthrex ACS and PRP system, which can be used for dogs, too. We went paperless in 2008 and use Cornerstone for our electronic medical records.
AMC also has boarding, grooming, cremation services, and a pet food outlet in our building. You can learn more about our hospital at https://gilletteveterinarian.com.
Our ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working with dogs and cats. You would not have any on-call or large animal responsibilities. You would rotate through our low cost satellite clinic, where you would be provided a great deal of small animal surgery. Our hospital can provide mentorship to a new grad, because we have veterinarians with a wide variety of interests and experience, as well as a diverse patient caseload.
Our clinic is a multi-doctor, mixed animal practice in Northeast Wyoming, with a patient profile of 90% companion animals (60% small animal, 30% Equine) and 10% bovine. We've been serving the Gillette, WY community for thirty years with the following mission: 'To provide state of the art veterinary service and care with uncompromised compassion towards the client and the patient.' With ten full time and part time veterinarians on staff, we can pursue our personal clinical goals, yet achieve a healthy balance between home and work. The culture at AMC fosters a mentoring atmosphere. Several AMC Doctors have more than 20 years of experience and 2 of the current Doctors on staff have less than 3 years’ experience allowing us to offer a practice atmosphere where clinical knowledge and the most recent academic knowledge come together.
Gillette is situated on the high plains between the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming and the Black Hills of South Dakota with outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities. The basis of the local economy is energy production. The local school district has been the beneficiary of the large tax base resulting in an excellent school system. Likewise, the Campb...ell County Recreational Department has utilized this same tax base to develop wonderful local recreational facilities. As a state, Wyoming has some of the best personal tax brackets nationally: with no state or county income tax assessments, and low sales and personal property taxes.
