St. John Animal Clinic could be the place for you. Doctors at our clinic practice individualized preventative care and medicine with a fabulous clientele. We are a multidoctor, Fear Free certified, small animal practice in Northwest Indiana. We are a busy clinic with a great support staff and a caring environment.  As a full-service hospital, our facility offers digital radiology, digital dental radiology, ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment, laser therapy, and everything you need to provide good quality care for your patients.

Our veterinarians collaborate and mentor each other to provide the best care possible for our patients, through our shared values of commitment to both our clients and staff. Working here you will find that we are always looking for ways to improve and take input from employees very seriously. We would also love a new doctor to develop in an area they are especially interested in and would support this however we can.

We are looking for a compassionate, team player with good communication skills with staff and clients. Competitive salary, PTO, CE, 3% contribution of salary to 401 K (after one year), medical and vision insurance, license/DEA fees, and professional membership fees are included in your compensation package. We are looking for a full-time veterinarian, but would also consider part time. New graduates would receive as much mentoring as they need.

We rotate Saturdays and have nearby emergency clinics for after hours, as well as many specialists within an easy driving distance for referrals. Job Requirements:

• Examine pets to diagnose various illnesses and injuries
• Treat pets by prescribing appropriate medications, cleaning and dressing wounds, and providing emergency care
• Collect and analyze samples of pet’s blood, urine, and feces
• Operate and analyze radiograph and ultrasound to aid in diagnosis
• Perform surgeries and dental procedures
• Vaccinate pets per lifestyle risks
• Advise owners on preventative care, nutrition, and proper aftercare following surgical and medical procedures
• Euthanize pets where medical treatment is, or would be, ineffective
• Update medical records
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
• Indiana State Veterinarian License
• DEA License
• Compassion for both pets and their owners
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to use medical technology during diagnosis, treatment, and surgery of pets
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
• Continued education to stay abreast of latest developments in animal medicine
• Experience working as a veterinarian is ideal
• Willingness to provide after-hours emergency treatment, when necessary
