Lexington Equine Medical Group is seeking applicants for an ambulatory intern veterinarian. Lexington Equine is currently an eight, full time veterinarian practice with a large, busy and diverse clientele. Each senior veterinarian has provided services to this area for well over a decade and has served to successfully mentor many interns and veterinarians. We offer equine ambulatory services including preventative, wellness and general medicine, dentistry, neonatal foal care, advanced reproduction, digital imaging, endoscopy, sports medicine, regenerative therapies, pre-purchase examination and 24/7 emergency care.  

Our ambulatory caseload is predominately associated with all aspects of the Thoroughbred Industry and is supplemented with many other disciplines and breeds. The practice takes care of polo strings, eventing barns, gaited horse clients, and pleasure horses.

The internship is for one year, from July 1st to June 30th.  Start date can be flexible for the right candidate.  Our interns work 6 days a week and are expected to cover emergency calls with the on call associate. During the breeding season, interns will be expected to be available 7 days a week.

Candidates must have a D.V.M. or equivalent degree and ability to obtain a Kentucky veterinary license prior to start date, a valid driver’s license, and previous horse experience. USDA accreditation strongly encouraged. In addition, we are looking for someone with integrity, skills, curiosity, and a sincere desire to contribute to our team with new ideas. We highly prize great communication skills, initiative, and a sense of humor.
