Do you love the quiet small town life? How about camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing or trail riding? Modoc county has everything an outdoorsy person could possibly want - space for exploring, room to run, no traffic!!! Being outdoorsy definitely not required but we are always on the hunt for new adventure buddies. Like to travel? So do we! And we are all great about making sure each one of us gets our time to go out and explore the world or take your personal down time in any manner.
Modoc Veterinary Center, located in Alturas, California, is a 3-doctor clinic seeking an ambitious Associate Veterinarian interested in a vibrant and fast-paced mixed animal practice. We rotate weekday on-call and will have about one weekend on-call per month. On-call is usually low-key with calls occurring maybe 50% of the time. We are a true mixed practice that will see anything and everything! We provide services for small animal, bovine, small ruminant and equine clients. We currently have a dedicated team that services a large, rural community in the northeastern corner of California. We provide a variety of services that provide opportunity for growth in the veterinary profession while also providing quality mentorship to our younger veterinarians, making this practice a great place to learn and grow. With the nearest ER about 2.5 hours away, we see a multitude of different ailments in all species and our clients are extremely grateful to have us there! This means that if you want to get some hands-on experience with literally anything then this is the place to be! True James Herriot novel over here. New grad? No worries! We love to mentor and help each other out. Tell us what you want to learn and we will make it happen!
Our practice has digital X-ray for both small and large animal; small and large animal ultrasound; endoscopy and rhinoscopy for small animal; and a complete in-house laboratory (CBC, chem, UA). The practice provides a variety of medical and surgical options for both our small and large animal including: orthopedics (TTA, lateral suture, patellar, bone plating), soft tissue and dentistry. We also offer acupuncture and chiropractic services for both small and large animal. We service around 40-50,000 head in a busy cow-calf practice and provide herd work, BSE exams and obstetrics. We have a robust equine portion of the practice as well and provide equine dentistry, lameness, repro, surgical and basic equine health plans. We have a nice working facility for large animals at the clinic and a set of stocks for equine work.
We offer a competitive compensation package with salary starting at $90,000 and includes 401(k) contribution with an employer 4.5% match as well as medical and dental insurance and paid time off. The practice pays for state veterinary licenses in California, Nevada and Oregon and pays for CVMA and AVMA dues.
