Have you thought about an internship because you value mentorship but you’re hesitant to commit to long hours and low salary? Northwood Animal Hospital offers a mentorship-type position where you can explore all facets of private practice and emergency medicine by rotation through different areas of our hospital, while enjoying standard associate pay and a 35-40 hour work week. We are looking for 2-3 FULL TIME or PART TIME associate veterinarians for this position, servicing Northwood Animal Hospital/PETS Emergency and The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood in Tallahassee FL. Our two hospitals currently employ 12 veterinarians. We are in need of veterinarians willing to work a varied schedule and varied positions, on salary with possibility of production bonus (Prosal-no negative accrual). This position will rotate through all aspects of the hospital, specifically emergency medicine; surgery; urgent care position to help manage our ICU cases and assisting  with emergencies throughout the day.  This position will also help with coverage for other vets when out for vacations, CE, etc. Rotation would be on a quarterly basis.  

This position would offer EXCELLENT MENTORSHIP to new graduates wanting to learn the different aspects of emergency medicine, general practice, surgery and exotic animal medicine. Northwood Animal Hospital is a 40 year AAHA-accredited small animal day practice and a 24 hour emergency hospital, treating dogs, cats, exotics and wildlife. Our overnight hours are staffed by dedicated full time veterinarians and technicians.   The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood is a traditional day practice animal hospital with a full scale pet resort. This facility is also AAHA accredited, as well as being a certified Feline Friendly practice.  Our focus at both hospitals is to provide high quality, compassionate veterinary care for our patients while educating clients.

Both hospitals have state of the art diagnostic and surgical equipment. We perform advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Some of our equipment includes Cornerstone paperless record keeping system; Sedecal digital x-ray machine (D/R); ultrasonic dental unit with high speed handpiece; digital dental x-ray; Companion Therapy Laser; Philips ultrasound machine; Idexx ECG; in-house laboratory including Abaxis clotting machine, Idexx Procyte Dx, Catalyst Dx, VetScan iStat; In house Progesterone testing, Cardell anesthetic monitoring; Heska IV pumps; Ellman Cautery unit and an Airnetics Oxygen Generator, for unlimited oxygen use for unlimited oxygen use for your patients. 

Northwood is a drop-off point to provide emergent care to wild animals for St. Francis Wildlife, a local wildlife rehabilitation group. Both hospitals work with CARE (Companion Animal Rescue Endeavor), a 501(c)(3) set up to allow us to provide medical and surgical care to relinquished, stray or orphaned companion animals that our doctors feel can be rehabilitated and re-homed.

Tallahassee is the capital of Florida and is home to the Florida State Seminoles. We are 45 minutes from the Gulf coast with a climate and geographical location ideally suited for a variety of outdoor activities including beach trips, hiking, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking and running.

Salary will be commensurate on experience, with total base compensation packages starting at $117,000 range based on a 40hr work week. For those wanting the opportunity, an increased base pay is available for extra hours desired to work.
