Description
VCA TLC Pasadena Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is looking for a Veterinary Assistant for our Emergency Department! Known for industry-leading medicine, we support our community and network of veterinary professionals in the greater Los Angeles area with education, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, and relationship development. We are improving on how we support clinicians and technical staff by adding qualified Veterinary Assistants to our growing hospital in our Emergency and ICU departments. Location: 1412 Huntington Dr, South Pasadena, CA 91030
Salary: $20 - $25 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 4 X 10 hour shift: Weekend availability required
Experience: Veterinary and ICU experience: 3 years (Preferred)
Dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule, and additional responsibilities.
Shift Differential Pay for Swing and Overnight available
Responsibilities:
- Assist doctors with exams, treatments, and procedures
- Venipuncture and IVC placement
- Administer SQ fluids, medications, etc.
- Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team.
- Recognize subtle change in clinical status
- Discharge instructions with clients
- Complete estimates, basic record keeping
- Surgical preparation
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Advanced Phlebotomy
- Monitoring Ventilator Cases
- Apheresis
- Diagnostic imaging (radiographs and assisting with ultrasounds)

- Outstanding communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask
- Love for animals
