Description
Bolton Veterinary Hospital (BVH) is seeking a Hospitalist to join our collaborative emergency, urgent and primary care team. This position is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys inpatient medicine, case management, and working closely with other DVMs and skilled Technicians to deliver exceptional patient care.
As a Veterinary Hospitalist, you will focus on the ongoing management of hospitalized emergency and specialty patients, developing treatment plans, communicating with clients, and ensuring seamless continuity of care throughout each patient's stay. Unlike a traditional emergency clinician role, this position allows you to concentrate on patient progression and treatment oversight without the demands of a primary emergency intake caseload.
At BVH, you'll have access to advanced diagnostic and treatment resources, including MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and ultrasound, enabling you to practice high-quality medicine alongside a dedicated team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee hospitalized emergency and specialty patients.
Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with emergency veterinarians and hospital staff.
Perform daily patient assessments and monitor case progression.
Provide timely medical updates and recommendations to pet owners.
Guide discharge planning and ensure continuity of care.
Work closely with veterinary technicians and assistants to deliver exceptional inpatient care.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent.
3-5 years experience in emergency or critical care.
Strong clinical, communication, and case management skills.
Commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care and client service.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Executive leadership team, management team to cover hospital operations and client issues, HR functions and a team of six experienced supervisors to support and manage floor staff.
Comprehensive annual performance reviews and mid-year check-ins for all staff.
Monthly case studies hosted by Dr. Liz LaVallee
Monthly medical team meetings that include presentations from DVMs who have attended a recent CE.
Quarterly Town Hall meetings for all staff with practice updates and annual in-house training for all staff.
On-site locum support for internal medicine and cardiology cases on a routine basis.
A private practice structure that provides autonomy for DVM-informed treatment and flexibility.
Eligible Associate Veterinarians also have the opportunity to be considered for partnership, as maintaining private ownership is a key part of our core values.
Structured mentorship program for the initial two years, then tapering for additional years as needed.
Schedule: 36 hours/week
Week 1: Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Week 2: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12 hours)
